Theodore Wirth Regional Park
Theodore Wirth is the perfect place to skijor. There are 5 different skijoring trails to choose from, ranging in length from 1.1 – 2.2 km and offering sweeping views of downtown Minneapolis and Wirth Lake. Please note that dogs are only allowed on designated skijoring trails and you must clean up after your pet at all times.
Before or after a day of fun, you and your pup can grab a bite to eat from Mill Valley Market, the Trailhead restaurant. Enjoy a hot cocoa or specialty coffee while noshing on a slice of their housemade banana bread.
Brookview
During the summer, Brookview is a fun, yet challenging, golf course. In winter, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The City grooms a one-mile, multi-use, natural snow recreational trail that meanders through the golf course. It’s an excellent place for learning to skijor with your canine companion. The trail, with traditional cross-country ski grooves, opens when snow conditions are appropriate and is maintained through late February. Solar LED lights allow the trail to be used past sunset.
If you’re feeling hungry, stop by the Three One Six Bar + Grill. They offer sweeping views of the golf course, family-friendly food and a full bar with craft brews. Warm up by their outdoor fire pit with a cozy cocktail, such as their cinnamon hot cocoa made with jack fire and rumchata.
