The Rec Center
The St. Louis Park Rec Center, with its two sheets of ice, is home to both figure skating and hockey. The rink is open for public skating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as weekends. Those ages 16 and up can participate in open hockey sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Special public skating events, such as Goblins on Ice, Turkeys on Ice, and Disco Ball Ice Skating are held throughout the season. Rental skates and skate sharpening are available for a fee.
Planning a party? The Rec Center’s Banquet and Gallery Rooms are available to rent during public skating times and can host parties of up to 160 people. Rental fees include use of a room for two hours and public skating admission for up to 15 people. For larger gatherings and events, such as hockey tournaments, both East and West skating rinks can be rented, with the West rink offering stadium seating for up to 2,000 spectators.
The ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center)
Connected to the Rec Center, you’ll find the ROC, St. Louis Park’s covered outdoor skating rink. The rink is open from October through early March and public skating sessions are offered on Friday evenings and weekend afternoons. Free pond hockey is available on weekends for all ages. The ROC, which can be rented exclusively for a fee, is home to broomball games and other special events. The rink is so cool that the Minnesota Wild host a practice there each year.
