The Little Church in the Valley, also known as The Historic Church, is the oldest public building in Golden Valley. Built in 1882, it was originally a one-room, nondenominational church established by the city’s earliest pioneers. Eight years after construction, it was moved to its current location by horses and mules pulling the frame structure almost a mile over rolling logs. The Golden Valley Historical Society (GVHS) acquired the Historic Church in 1997 as its permanent home. In 2013, GVHS began constructing an addition, resulting in the 2018 opening of the Golden Valley History Museum.  It’s a very old (140 years!), very charming wedding venue with historic appeal.
The Little Church in the Valley is the perfect venue for small weddings, wedding vow renewals and memorial services. The de-sanctified chapel provides seating for 80 guests and there is onsite parking for 20-30 cars. When you book your wedding with the Historical Society, you will get an experienced liaison to assist with arrangements.
Additional amenities include:
Rental fees include use of the church for decorating, rehearsal, pictures and ceremony, over a period of 1-2 days.
To make an appointment to tour the Historic Church or to reserve the facility for your special date, contact Don Anderson, GVHS Secretary, at 763-308-5059 or gvhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
