Friday

Evening

Settle into your hotel, then head out for evening of camaraderie and fun. Golden Valley’s New Bohemia Wurst and Bier House bills itself as “the New American Craft Bier Hall,” and it lives up to its name. Exhibit A: The 36 rotating beers on tap — 23 of which are local Minnesota beers. And it only gets better from there. New Bohemia also offers 24 different kinds of sausages, all of which are locally made from all-natural, whole cuts of meat with no artificial flavoring and zero nitrates. And these aren’t your standard sausages — try the Juicy Lucy brat stuffed with provolone and pepperoncini. If you’re a soft pretzel connoisseur, make sure to get a giant Bavarian pretzel. It’s made by hand in the traditional German style and comes with pepper jack cheese sauce for dipping. For the bold, there’s a whole section of the menu called “adventurous wursts,” which features items like the lamb gyro brat served with cucumber sauce, the smoked elk brat and the Louisiana alligator bayou brat.

Then head over to Steel Toe Brewing, a local favorite for its craft beer and atmosphere. With indoor and outdoor seating options, you’ll enjoy the relaxing vibe while trying a year-round signature offering like their Size 7 or a featured seasonal offering. Either way your tastebuds will delight.

Saturday

Morning

Brookview Golf Course

Start your day on the course, of course! Brookview’s Regulation Course is a challenging, mature course with tree-lined fairways, 28 moderate bunkers, fairly small greens, and an abundance of water hazards. Bassett Creek flows through the course, crossing six holes. Other water hazards come into play on 11 additional holes. Your day will be challenging, fun and entertaining.

Afternoon

For your 19th hole, grab lunch at the Three One Six Bar + Grill to refuel before your next round of golf. They serve a variety of burgers, sandwiches and wraps, plus fries and tots. The views from the restaurant, deck or patio are spectacular! Check out the lawn bowling green (it’s the largest in the state!) and maybe try your hand at throwing a few “bowls.”

Theodore Wirth Golf Club

When you’re ready to tee it up again, check out Wirth Golf Club in Theodore Wirth Regional Park. Wirth is one of the oldest public courses in the state. Bassett Creek flows through the front nine, along with a few man-made lagoons. The back nine features rolling hills and mature trees. The course, which ranges in length from 6,575 from 3,646 yards, offers some of the most scenic views of the Minneapolis downtown skyline.

Evening

Enjoy a laidback dinner at JJ’s Clubhouse, a neighborhood favorite sports bar and restaurant for over 25 years. Have a seat on the patio where people and dog watching abound, or watch the game on their wall-to-wall TVs. They’re known for classic American food, such as wings, cheese curds and onion rings, sandwiches and 9 different types of burgers served with fries or tots, along with hearty entrées.

For the perfect nightcap, you’ll want to explore the West End. Stop by Yard House, which features over 100 American craft and imported beers on tap. At Rojo Mexican Grill, check out their wall of tequila, one of the largest selections in the metro area, and try one of their highly potent, but delicious, margaritas. Or kick back at The Local, an authentic Irish pub, for a pint of Guinness and glass of 2 Gingers whiskey.

Sunday

Morning

Spend your Sunday morning where the locals go – Bunny’s Bar and Grill. The place is always hopping for weekend brunch. Order one of their signature skillet scrambles – scrambled eggs and American fries topped with melted Monterey jack-cheddar cheese, bacon and more. The biscuits and sausage gravy and cinnamon fritter French toast are also popular choices. Plus, enjoy a complimentary Bloody Mary or screwdriver.

Kayak the Creek

After breakfast, why not set off on an adventure and explore St. Louis Park by kayak? Minnehaha Creek, popular with kayakers and canoers alike, travels through the city and into the surrounding suburbs.  Kayak The Creek, a full-service company, will rent you kayaks, complete with paddles, life vests, and dhttps://www.kayakthecreek.com/ry bags for phones and wallets. The kayaks will be dropped off at your desired launch point and picked up at the end of your 2.5 to 3-hour journey. Shoreside instruction is provided and guide service is available for an additional fee. (Note: Depending on water flow, kayaking may not be possible. But KTC will give you the latest lowdown!)

After going with the “flow,” it’s time to pack up and head home. Hopefully you will have enjoyed making St. Louis Park and Golden Valley your ‘man cave” for some quality time with the guys!
